An alternative if I am out or for those on a budget is to buy one of my CLI-8 sets and move the chips over from YOUR CLI-42 cartridges.  I can provide you a really good set of instructions for moving chips.
We love our Canon Pro-100 printers but we hate when they run out of ink so fast and we have to pay $18.99 for a new cartridge. And as soon as you replace one, another one goes out.  An easy solution is to get educated on how to refill your own cartridges with quality ink using a tried and tested procedure.
For the CLI-42 cartridges, this starts with the highest quality dye inks from a place like Precision Colors or Octoink UK.  Printer experts will advise you to get original Canon OEM cartridges and stay away from those poorly fitting, leaky and potentially print-head damaging “compatible” cartridges.  Precision Colors kits will show you how to prepare an OEM cart for refilling by using a difficult procedure to remove the “ball” from the cart, drilling the filler hole out to the perfect diameter for the rubber tab style plug they want to sell you, and to add on their orange storage clips for another dollar each.
You can get used empty CLI-42 cartridges all over ebay at a price of roughly $4-$6 each but you still have to do all the work to properly prep and dry the cartridges plus purchase the luxury add-on parts that I provide with this complete set of eight original and fresh Canon OEM cartridges.
With these custom modified original Canon OEM cartridges, the filler ball has been removed, the carts have been expertly flushed to pristine white* and then all cartridges are dried to 13.5 to 13.6 grams. The filler hole has been drilled to 5/32″ for accommodating the high quality rubber tab style “plugs” which I provide for you.  Also, the orange storage clip is included to make it easy to do “mess free” filling and “stand-up” storage.  The yellow cartridge has been pre-flushed of all remnant old ink with strong ammonia first.  This is the proper procedure for the yellow jello issue that has been reported. You’ll also get 8 rubber filler hole plugs and 8 orange storage clips as shown in the picture with your cartridges.  Compared to other well known vendors prices, these items alone are a $10 value!
My cartridges are “fresh”.  They have never been refilled before, so they will have a much longer refilling life.  Beware of sellers popping up now that have empty drilled cartridges. No information is given about these so they could have been refilled many times and may have only a limited life left for refills (if any).  Some also say in their auction – no warranty.  Buy from trusted sellers only that are selling FRESH never refilled carts and offer money back guarantees.
Every cartridge in this lot has never been refilled, just flushed, drilled and dried.  Every cart has it’s original Canon OEM chip which has been reset to “full” with a resetter.  If you’re interested in saving money by refilling CLI-42 cartridges, I’ve done all the work for you. You’ll find it’s a lot easier to use your own ink from wherever you want to buy it from.  These cartridges should last for at least up to 50+ refills or more each.  I’ve refilled mine over 60 times so far and they are still going !  Treating your cartridges with a rejuvenation fluid can also extend their life when they start to age.  I give you all the facts and will be here for you long after the sale.

Occasionally I run out of CLI-42 cartridges of a specific color to complete a full set.  I may include in your set a CLI-8 cartridge (functionally identical inside) with a nicely made and printed label to cover the “8” with a “42”. A CLI-42 chip will be placed, secured and tested onto the CLI-8 cartridge.  Consequently, if you have any issues with a single cartridge included in your purchased set, you MAY be given a CLI-8 replacement along with a good set of instructions for how to move the chip over to the CLI-8. (Or you may return the cartridge to me to do it for you)
*Cyan and Photo Cyan will show a slight tinge of color in the cartridges at the sponge juncture. This does not affect their ability to perform perfectly when refilled. (“EU only” and “Setup” cartridges work in ALL Canon Pro-100 printers.  They also hold the same amount of ink.  Your purchase could include any combination of Setup / Non Setup / EU / US cartridges.  They all work in all Canon Pro-100 printers.)  No shipping to PO Boxes.
